The vestibular system is the system dedicated to provides us with information about our movement relative to the word around us, the speed of that movement, and what corrections we need to make regarding that movement in order to maintain our balance. It is important to understand because we use this information to maintain a safe relationship with our environment and avoid, most importantly, falls. Dysfunction can occur from age-related degeneration, trauma such as concussion, or damage to the nerves supplying the vestibular organs secondary to inflammation or viral infection.
This workshop is intended for anyone who feels dizzy or suffers from imbalance across their lifespan. People who could benefit range from young athletes to aging adults and everyone in between.
In general, the public and even many referring providers are inconsiderate of the vestibular system. My goal for this workshop is to inform people of the important role this system on one’s overall wellness, and how that plays into the integrative model at physiologic.
