What were your initial goals coming in to Physio Logic?
I wanted to figure out the root of my problems – muslce pain, head pressure, upper abdominal pain, and nausea. A friend of a friend mentioned Physio Logic in passing, and I decided to look them up online. When I came in for my very first evaluation with Dr. Robert Graham and Michelle Miller, I fell in love with Physio Logic’s decor and aesthetic. I felt at home. Their model of health, which incorporates the internist, nutritionist, and physical therapists all in one place was what really sold me.

During the actual evaluation, Dr. Graham recommended that I do some tests. This included the CSDA kit (stool analysis), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) breath test, and check to see if I had H. Pylori.

I have been to many other doctors in the past. This was the first time I had ever been asked to do these kinds of tests. I was used to the old, “pill for an ill” approach to medicine. I was a fan of taking medications because I felt like I was fixing myself. The only problem was, I never felt better and the medications never resolved my issue.

Dr. Graham explained that I had been overmedicated. Each time I took an antibiotic, I was killing off both the good bacteria and the bad bacteria in my gut. I never knew that. I never bothered asking whether taking an antibiotic was really the answer, after all, my doctor recommended it to me. Now I know better.

Dr. Graham and Michelle both suggested I go in for the 6 month FRESH Integrative Medicine program, with the possibility of shortening it to 3 months if everything goes well. They reviewed my lab results with me, making sure that I understood what each test revealed. What they found was that I had SIBO and there was an overgrowth of bad bacteria in my large intestine. To manage this, Dr. Graham prescribed an antibiotic and recommended that I stay away from certain foods during the treatment. Michelle was able to give me some helpful dietary recommendations to help heal my gut. After I completed my round of antibiotics, Dr. Graham prescribed an antimicrobial medication to me as well as slowly adding some probiotics to get some good bacteria growing in my gut.

That’s when we hit our first “bump in the road.”

My acid reflux began to flare up. Dr. Graham immediately had me stop taking everything to reassess. He readjusted his treatment and prescribed me a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) to manage my gastric acid production. Although my case is complex, Dr. Graham and Michelle are very invested in me and my success. They will not quit until I get the results I need to feel like a normal person again.

I have never experienced such a high level of care before. Most doctors would never go into as much detail as Dr. Graham and Michelle have put in for my case.

What was the one thing you liked most about Physio Logic?
I think Dr. Graham and Michelle are both amazing practitioners and very accessible. I can reach them via email or even a phone call and they will get back to me as soon as they can. Both of them are very invested in me as a person as well as my success with treatment. Where other doctors would give up on me for not showing progress, they keep trying. They will not quit until I get better.

I have started seeing Dr. Allison Heffron for acupuncture as well. I’ve never done acupuncture before, but have always been interested in trying it out. Dr. Graham and Michelle both feel I would benefit from acupuncture along with my current treatment. I love having options to other services all conveniently in the same place. Not only are these services available to me, but the practitioners actually communicate with each other. Dr. Graham, Michelle, and Dr. Heffron can all coordinate with each other to provide me the care I need.

What are the top three benefits from coming to Physio Logic??

  1. Learning how food affects your gut and overall health. I have a better relationship with the food I eat, even if it’s just a basic diet for now, I understand what the nutritional benefits are.
  2. Much more aware about my gut related problems. I had no idea what SIBO was until I got tested for it at Physio Logic. I didn’t realize how important gut health was to the rest of the body and just feeling good in general.
  3. Hope. Physio Logic was my last hope. Where all other doctors fell short, Dr. Graham and Michelle both continually worked with me to get me the results I need. I wasn’t able to function at a normal level for a 7 months due to my condition. In just 2 months with treatment at Physio Logic, I feel like I’ve made a lot of progress, even with a “bump in the road” in treatment. It is a minor setback, but I’m very optimistic with the way things are going.

Would you recommend the services at Physio Logic to anyone? Why?

Yes. I told my friends with stomach problems to come here. Anytime someone asks for a doctor recommendation I immediately send them to Dr. Graham. His focus on holistic care and his accessibility is what sets him apart from other doctors. I’m an actor, as are many of my friends, so we appreciate the fact that Physio Logic tries to make care affordable for everyone. They offer payment plans, which are a great option and totally worth it.
