This workshop will focus on keeping new and expectant mothers healthy with Pilates-based exercise and physical therapy, nutrition, and acupuncture.

Our team will explain each phase of pregnancy: before, during, and after, and the steps an expectant mother can take to ensure a smooth journey to childbirth. With presentations by physical therapist Erin Weber, DPT, nutritionist Michelle Miller, MSACN, acupuncturist Stefanie DiLibero, and Pilates instructor Lynda Gehrman, you can be sure this workshop will be full of useful information and demonstrations.

Here is what we will be covering:

Physical Therapy & Pilates

Our experts will demonstrate several exercises that target postural muscles that may be stressed during pregnancy. These exercises will help relieve any aches that your body may face through the many changes it undergoes. Common problems that will be addressed are back pain, joint malalignment, pelvic floor dysfunction, and lack of flexibility. Remember, physical therapy is not just for recovery!

This ancient form of alternative medicine is very beneficial for women in any phase of pregnancy. We will discuss how acupuncture can help reduce back and pelvic pain as well as the dreaded morning sickness.

Not only do women have to feed themselves, but they must eat enough to help their babies develop during pregnancy. We will shed light on the kinds of supplements and diets that will help maximize your body’s intake of nutrients, what foods to stay away from to maintain a healthy weight during pregnancy, and how to safely and effectively lose weight after giving birth.
