How does it work
In essence, HBOT amplifies the body’s oxygen intake and delivery capabilities, promoting various therapeutic benefits.
1. Enclosure in a Pressurized Chamber
The patient enters a specially designed chamber where the atmospheric pressure is increased, often up to 2-3 times the normal level.
2. Breathing Pure Oxygen
Inside the chamber, the patient breathes 100% pure oxygen, significantly higher than the 21% found in regular air.
3. Oxygen Saturation
The combination of increased pressure and pure oxygen ensures that a greater volume of oxygen is dissolved in the bloodstream, reaching tissues and cells at an enhanced rate to stimulate healing and recovery
What does it entail
Together, these features create an environment where the body can absorb enhanced levels of oxygen, leading to various therapeutic benefits.
1. Specialized Chamber
HBOT uses a unique, sealed chamber – either monoplace (for one person) or multiplace (for multiple patients). These chambers are designed to withstand and regulate increased atmospheric pressures safely.
2. 100% Pure Oxygen Delivery
Unlike the ambient air we breathe, which contains roughly 21% oxygen, HBOT involves the inhalation of 100% pure oxygen. This ensures a maximum oxygen uptake by the lungs.
3. Controlled Pressure Settings
The therapy works by elevating the atmospheric pressure within the chamber. This increased pressure allows the lungs to gather more oxygen than under normal atmospheric conditions, leading to a higher amount of oxygen being dissolved into the bloodstream.
