Our practice can assist with obtaining Medical Cannabis Program certification.
The first step is being evaluated by a practitioner such as Dr. Palvia to determine if your condition qualifies for the New York State Medical Marijuana Program. If you meet the criteria, Dr Palvia will issue you an official certification.
Once you possess a certification from Dr Palvia, you must register with the Medical Cannabis program through the OCM’s online Patient Registration System. You can find patient registration instructions by visiting https://cannabis.ny.gov/patients.
After your registration is approved, you will be issued a Temporary Registry Identification Card, which may be used in conjunction with a government issued photo identification card until you receive your registry identification card in the mail. Dispensing facility locations can be found here.
Certified patients or their designated caregivers who are registered with the Medical Cannabis Program can purchase medical cannabis products from a registered organization’s dispensing facility in New York State. Patients must bring their registry ID cards and their certifications to a registered organization’s dispensing facility in order to purchase approved medical cannabis products, plants or seeds. Designated caregivers obtaining medical cannabis on behalf of their patients must bring their caregiver registry identification cards and their patients’ certifications to the dispensing facility.
The cost of the certification is $250, which is unfortunately not covered by insurance. If you would like to proceed we can charge the card we have on file or you can let us know how you would like to provide payment. Once that is taken care of, I can certify you and you can print a temporary card which you can begin using immediately at any medical marijuana pharmacy.
