Amy Montia’s primary focus is myofascial and orthopedic-based massage therapy, though she integrates proper breathing techniques and Shiatsu into her work because she believes effective massage therapy should treat the whole person (body, mind, and spirit). Amy is certified in Active Release Technique (ART), Functional Range Release® (FR) and Functional Range Conditioning® (FRC). She is also skilled in Myofascial work, Trigger Point Therapy, Shiatsu, and Thai massage.
Amy holds a doctorate in Molecular Pathology from Columbia University where she worked for 10 years in the Cancer Genetics department screening and analyzing somatic mutations in breast and prostate cancer.
As a former Division III collegiate runner and recreational triathlete, Amy has developed a good understanding and appreciation for the importance of strength and body mechanics. These days, Amy’s strength and fitness comes from running, skateboarding around town, kickboxing, and raising three strong-willed amazing daughters.
With her valuable knowledge, perspective, and insight, Amy is dedicated to helping all of her clients and patients feel better and reach their potential.
