What were your initial goals coming into Physio Logic? What conditions/injuries did you treated for at Physio Logic?
Prevention mostly. I wanted to find the weaknesses that may cause injury to my body. I’ve done physical therapy in the past at other places and learned a lot from those experiences. I’ve been dancing for about 20 years of my life. I have dealt with a variety of injuries that usually come along with the constant demands I put on my body through dance. I came to Physio Logic to deal with tendon issues on my lower left leg. A few of my older injuries come and go every so often. The most consistent issues I face are soreness, muscle fatigue, and poor alignment. About five years back I was ignoring my body’s signals to rest and examine these issues and ended up with a pretty serious injury that stopped me from dancing for a while. You can’t let those kind of things slide. My friend Amanda who is from the same dance company as myself also teaches Pilates here at Physio Logic. She had me come in for treatment, and I’m glad she did because Physio Logic is a great place to get back on track.
What have you learned since starting your journey here at Physio Logic?
The staff here has reiterated many facts that I knew from my previous stints at other physical therapy offices, especially the fact that your body needs to take some time to heal itself. With proper guidance, review, and clear explanations of what to expect from treatment, I feel like the staff here has deepened my understanding of the lessons I’ve learned before.
What was your favorite part of being our patient?
The dogs (Norman and Wanda) are awesome. [laughs] Everyone here was informed of my treatment and the issues I had coming in. I never felt rushed even though time is sort of limited here.
Who stood out to you the most during your treatment at Physio Logic? How did they help you reach your goals?
Dr. Stephen Szaro. He was the first doctor I saw when I started at Physio Logic. He is responsible for creating my treatment plan. He made sure I got the care I needed . I felt very comfortable working with him because he’s knowledgeable, friendly, and invested in my well-being. Dr. Ken Brassington was also very good and helpful during my treatment.
What activities are you able to return to since transitioning from pain to wellness?
Increased mobility. I’m still in between chiropractic treatment and physical therapy, but I feel like I’m making progress. Strength is still something I’m working on. I’m always changing up my exercise regimens according to what the physical therapists say I should do. They’ve made me more aware of the importance of stretching and exercise before and after dance rehearsal.
