Amy Montia, PhD, LMT
Amy Montia’s primary interest is deep tissue and orthopedic-based massage therapy, though she integrates proper breathing techniques and Shiatsu into her work because she believes massage therapy needs to address the whole person (body, mind, and spirit). Amy is full body-certified in A.R.T (Active Release Technique) and is also trained in Functional Range Release®, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Shiatsu, and Thai massage.
Amy holds a doctorate in Molecular Pathology from Columbia University where she worked for 10 years in the Cancer Genetics department screening and analyzing somatic mutations in breast cancer.
As a former Division III collegiate runner and recreational triathlete, Amy has developed a good understanding and appreciation for the importance of strength and body mechanics. These days, Amy’s strength and fitness comes from skateboarding around town, kickboxing, and raising three strong-willed amazing daughters.
With her valuable knowledge, perspective, and insight, Amy is dedicated to helping all of her clients and patients feel better and reach their potential.
